JU Student Wins Second Prize in Young Achiever of the Year Award

Jamiatul Ummah student, Sami Ahmed, wins second prize in Young Achiever of the Year Award from Tower Hamlets Council.

A huge congratulations to Sami Ahmed, who has won second prize in the Tower Hamlets Young Achiever of the Year Award 2022.

Hafiz Sami Ahmed graduated from Jamiatul Ummah School in 2022 with excellent GCSE results and is now studying A-levels at City and Islington College. Sami, along with other students from the school, participated in our Student Development Programme which consisted of training around public speaking, youth work and most importantly, community action. Using their skills gained from training, including with Citizens UK, students participated in various community action campaigns.

Sami was instrumental in leading the school's Gosling Gardens Action campaign which called for better safety and security in the local park. The award recognised Sami's achievements in the campaign. He worked closely with local police commanders, the Mayor of Tower Hamlets (John Biggs) local faith leaders from St Georges in the East and Darul Ummah Masjid as well as other community groups.

Sami successfully lead the campaign to bring awareness to safety issues related to Gosling Gardens.

Sami has also completed his hifz memorisation, alhamdulillah.
