  • Careers Education (CEIAG)

At Jamiatul Ummah, Careers Education (CEIAG) is taught as part of the PSHCE programme. It is supported by a programme of work and career related events, organised by the Careers Coordinator in consultation with the Senior Leadership Team.

We expect all our pupils should leave our school and move on to either Further/Higher Education, training or other career opportunities. This policy therefore recognises that the provision of effective Careers Education and Guidance is an essential part of the preparation of all pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. It should help them to be more self-aware, to be informed about continuing education and training and about possible future career paths. It should enable them to manage transitions into new roles and situations throughout their life and help them to achieve their aspirations. We have a statutory duty to provide careers education in Years 7-11 (1997 Education Act) and to provide pupils access to careers information and guidance.

The aims of careers education and guidance are:

    • For pupils to learn about careers and the world of work
    • For pupils to develop themselves through careers, employability and enterprise education
    • For pupils to develop their career management and employability skills

The careers programme is designed to meet the needs of pupils at Jamiatul Ummah School. It is differentiated and personalised to ensure progression through activities that are appropriate to pupils’ stages of career learning, planning and development.
